The rich Tamang heritage culture and tradition add more essence to the Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu trekking. Tamangs are one of the early settlers of the Langtang region and are believed to be descendants of Tibetans. Their norms, values, and practices are similar to Tibetans. Apart from Tamangs, Sherpas are the other inhabitants of the Langtang region. While trekking, you'll come across many chortens, prayer wheels, stupas, prayer flags, and mani walls. Upon crossing the Laurebina pass (4,681 m), you enter the Helambu region, where you'll meet Hyolmos (also an indigenous group).
Kyanjin Gompa and Shig Gompa are the two ancient and most important religious sites for the locals in the Langtang region. They are located at 3,860 m and 3,330 m, respectively. As the name of the package says, the trek leads you to pristine and holy Gosaikunda Lake, situated at 3,860 m. It is a holy lake and a pilgrimage site, visited by hundreds of pilgrims every year (especially in August during Janai Purnima). The lake is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati as per Hindu mythology book.
