Nepal

Nepal is a beautiful landlocked country, also known as the abode of the Himalayas. The country has many mountains over 6000 meters, including 10 out of 14 peaks over 8000 meters. Nepal is home to eight of the world's 14 peaks over 8000 meters. Nepal is well known for its cultural richness, fine arts, and festivals.

Geographically, it is one of the most beautiful and dramatic countries on earth. The country covers an area of 147,181 square kilometres, 145-241 km from north to south and 850 km from west to east. Tibet borders Nepal to the north and India to the south, east, and west.

Historically, Nepal had many small kingdoms in medieval times. Prithvi Narayan Shah only formed the modern state in 1768 when Nepal was unified. Before 2006, Nepal was a kingdom ruled by a king from the Shah Dynasty. The country has been a Federal Democratic Republic for the past 29 years.

People have struggled for a democratic government with periods of direct monarchic rule. Nowadays, Nepal is a settled and safe tourist destination.

Nepal is divided into three regions: the Himalayas, the Hill region, and the Tarai region. The highest point is Mt. Everest (8,848 m) in the north, and the lowest is Kechanakawal (70 m) in Jhapa district. As altitude increases from south to north, temperatures can drop below -40 degrees Celsius.

In the Terai on Nepal’s southern border, temperatures can often rise above 40 degrees Celsius in the summer. Monsoon clouds and heavy rains influence Nepal during June, July, and August. Therefore, it is not generally suitable for trekking, although people now take advantage of the quieter trails. There are also areas ideal for trekking situated in the country's rain shadow.

The people are amazing, friendly, welcoming, and accepting of visitors. Religion is an integral and deeply rooted part of Nepalese life. One remarkable feature of Nepal is the religious harmony that exists, particularly between the Buddhist and Hindu communities.

Nepal's essence remains unique in an ever-divided world. It is a land of diverse social customs and frequent religious festivals. These festivals are celebrated in the streets and squares of the cities and villages throughout the land. There is hardly a day or place where a celebration of some festival, however small, takes place.

Nepal is famous country for trekking in Nepal, hiking, tours, peak climbing, jungle safari trips, and various adventure activities.
